Inverted Citizens was founded in 2018 by circus artists Jackson Cordery, Laura Oakley, and Sophia O'Connor in Wellington, New Zealand. Our work strives to elevate circus as an artform in New Zealand, combining a theatrical approach with the sense of fun inherent to traditional circus.
Our vision is of a thriving circus sector in New Zealand that embraces the unique talents on offer right here in Aotearoa.​​

Our debut production REAL[ISE] crashes onto the scene at the New Zealand Fringe Festival in Wellington with an award winning season at Te Auaha before touring to the USA.
